Position Overview
Under the support and direction of the Cleveland County Commissioner of District 3, this position is responsible for the successful operation of the Norman, Moore, and Noble Farm Markets. The Market Manager (MM) is responsible for the growth of the market to include recruitment of new vendors, additional entertainment and programs during market days, and exploring additional funding from sponsors and partners. The MM completes a variety of operational and administrative tasks for the Norman Farm Market. The MM performs regular duties, including but not limited to management of weekly market operations, data entry, financial reconciliation, onsite labor management & consistent communication with vendors.

Compensation
- $50,000.00
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reports to the Deputy Commissioner of District 3 for feedback and support. Meets weekly to discuss the status of current projects and the efficacy of implemented strategies.
- Manages the weekly farmers' markets (Tuesday and Saturday) by ensuring all operations are carried out efficiently and safely. MM oversees the set-up and break-down of the market and all normal farm market operations during market hours. MM is responsible for supporting the existing community environment that Norman, Moore, and Noble Farm Markets have built through cheerful and accountable interactions with customers, vendors, volunteers, and staff.
- Provides guidance and direction to market staff
- Works with local community partners to implement business development trainings for market vendors in an effort to support the local food system
- Coordinates regular site visits with all farm market vendors
- Inputs raw data figures from Tuesday and Saturday markets into the accounting system and communicates with County Treasurer regarding such input. Data includes but is not limited to: SNAP & Double Up distribution numbers, Senior Nutrition dollars, vendor booth fees, musician or other entertainment payments. MM provides accurate numbers of distribution and redemption to the Deputy Commissioner of District 3 in a monthly report.
- Assists with advertising and marketing of the Norman, Moore, and Noble Farm Markets on social media.
- Actively seeking out and writing for grant opportunities to support the market, local food system, small business development, etc.
- Manages the development, accounting, reporting, and closeout of grants and other funding sources to support the market and its programs.
- Actively forms community partnerships to support the local food system, and researches the best practices regarding food security
- Schedules the entertainment, labor setup, SNAP booth labor, and complimentary programming for the market. Maintains expedient and consistent communication with laborers and performers, and seeks out new talent
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Strong customer service skills- display enthusiastic, outgoing, and helpful behavior
- Ability to finish projects with minimal management
- Aptitude for prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within time restraints
- Competence in MS Office and web-based applications
- Comfortable working with numbers, bookkeeping, and Microsoft Excel
- Willingness to learn and expand job skills
- Must have a passion for farmers' markets, local food, and sustainability. The Well believes in the value of fresh, locally-grown goods and increasing food access for all demographics in Cleveland County.
- Ability to articulate strategies and methods to keep the Market attractive, fresh, and interesting to customers.
- Grant research and writing
- Flexible time schedule to accommodate variable hours and market activities required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, community relations or outreach, communications, or related field; experience in merchandising, retail sales, or event planning. Previous farm market management experience preferred; grant writing and management preferred
- Applicants must be able to work all shifts. A valid Oklahoma driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record is required.
