Position Overview
The Fairgrounds Maintenance Worker helps maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the Fairgrounds and surrounding county properties. This hands-on role combines outdoor maintenance, custodial duties, and light equipment operation. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Early morning or late-night shifts may be required based on event schedules.

- $38,500.00

- Knowledge of custodial safety procedures and cleaning best practices.
Custodial and Janitorial Duties
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors in buildings and restrooms.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and break rooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors.
- Replenish restroom and break room supplies (soap, paper towels, etc.).
- Empty trash and recycling containers.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.
- Wash windows, walls, and clean entrance glass and doors.
Grounds and Facility Maintenance
- Mow, edge, weed, and blow grounds to maintain landscape appearance.
- Plant flowers and shrubs; maintain sprinkler systems.
- Pick up litter and debris on county properties, especially during and after events.
- Maintain exterior grounds of county buildings including courthouses and tax resale properties.
- Clear entrances and walkways to ensure safety and accessibility.
Vehicle and Equipment Operation
- Operate commercial and light maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, flatbeds, floor scrubbers, and burnishers.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Perform minor equipment maintenance and report any safety issues or mechanical failures.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Inspect equipment for safety hazards before use.
- Perform general maintenance or report needed repairs on equipment as required.
- Replace vacuum bags and change belts and brushes.
Compliance and Safety:
- Work in a safe manner for oneself and others, keeping the work area clean and safe.
- Follow safety rules and practices and use safety equipment as required.
- Set up rooms with tables, chairs, and other equipment as needed.
- The employee shall be knowledgeable and follow Cleveland County’s safety policies and procedures. The employee must immediately report any accidents, unusual occurrences, or any other safety-related issues to his/her supervisor.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
- Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred
- Experience operating tracker or utility vehicles preferred.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
- Must possess a valid driver's license from a U.S. State or Territory to perform necessary job-related travel.
